Overview
This article is for all users who want to sponsor jobs on Indeed using the ATS. It explains how to connect individual Indeed accounts, create an Indeed Sponsored Job Board Favorite, choose and confirm budget options, manage active campaigns, and use reporting to track performance. It also includes key rules, visibility considerations, and how Indeed Apply impacts the application flow.
Indeed is a job search engine used in more than 60 countries and 28 languages. Its pay‑per‑click model means you only pay when a candidate clicks your job.
Sponsored jobs receive up to 5X more clicks and remain prominent in search results over time.
The Indeed Sponsored Jobs integration in the ATS lets you set a customized budget or specify the number of applicants to receive.
Individual user connections are required; each Admin or Job Posting Manager must connect their own Indeed account within the ATS.
Indeed Apply Process
Please note the following information from Indeed regarding Indeed Apply:
Customers’ job listings will be included in a comprehensive feed delivered to the Indeed Platform (Indeed.com, global domains, and Owned & Operated sites including SimplyHired, Resume.com, and Glassdoor).
Applicants will be able to apply to customers’ job listings on Indeed using the Indeed Apply functionality.
Applications will be ingested by you from Indeed; applicants will not be directed to customers’ career pages to apply.
Important: Sponsoring a job on Indeed does not guarantee visibility. Your jobs must meet Indeed’s Job Posting Standards; if they do not, visibility may be reduced or removed.
How To Sponsor Jobs On Indeed
Follow these steps to connect your Indeed account, prepare your job, and set a budget for sponsorship.
Prerequisites And Sponsorship Rules
Meet job posting standards: Your job must meet Indeed’s Job Posting Standards; sponsorship does not override quality rules.
Allow 24 hours before sponsoring: Indeed requires a job to exist organically first; wait 24 hours after posting before sponsoring.
Understand campaign limits: Sponsorships end after a maximum of 30 days. Your ad may still be active based on the Job Listing End Date you set.
Daily spend cap behavior: When a job reaches its daily click limit, it stops showing as sponsored for the rest of the day and reverts to organic visibility. The click budget resets the following day.
Re‑sponsorship limitations: Re‑sponsorship is not allowed while a campaign is active. It is not recommended to re‑sponsor the same job ad; create a new job listing and sponsor that one instead. If you do re‑sponsor, you will pay to sponsor again.
Billing: You only pay for used budget. Any remaining budget at campaign end is reset to zero and is not billed.
Create An Indeed Sponsored Job Board Favorite
An Admin user or Job Posting Manager (if access is granted) must set up a new Indeed Sponsored Job Board Favorite—even if you previously sponsored jobs on Indeed through the ATS.
If prompted to connect your account, select Connect to Indeed Account and complete the connection flow.
If you do not see the Indeed Sponsored section in the Job Push area, add Indeed Sponsored to your Job Board Favorites.
Note: If prompted, you may need to reenter your Indeed credentials to reconnect—even if you connected in the past.
Tip: If you are ready to sponsor a job right now, a shortcut adds the new Job Board Favorite during the connection process.
Sponsor A Job On Indeed
Once the Job Board Favorite is created and your Indeed account is connected, wait 24 hours after the job is posted before sponsoring.
Open Job Board Push Or Job Advertising
Go to the Job Listings tab.
Select the Actions button for any open job listing.
Depending on your account settings, choose Job Board Push or Job Advertising.
Connect Your Indeed Account If Prompted
In the Indeed Sponsored section, you may see a prompt to connect your Indeed account.
If already connected, proceed to sponsorship.
Choose Sponsorship And Budget Option
Select the Indeed Sponsored Job Ad checkbox.
Choose either Accept Indeed’s Budget or Set My Own Budget.
Accept Indeed’s Budget
As of April 1st, 2022, Indeed provides Potential Performance information estimating applicants for a 30‑day ad duration based on the suggested budget.
The Indeed‑generated budget appears only for jobs created after this release; older jobs may not display a suggested amount.
Estimates are based on Indeed’s past performance and do not guarantee results.
If acceptable, select Accept Indeed’s Budget.
Set My Own Budget
If you prefer to set your own budget, select one of the following:
Fixed Budget: Choose this option if you have a set amount to spend and want to acquire applicants within a fixed budget.
Flexible Budget: Choose this option if you have a target number of applicants; the budget adjusts to meet that goal.
Fixed Budget
Choose an ad duration from the Number of Days dropdown (7–30 days). Indeed recommends 30 days for best results.
Enter your budget in the Ad Budget field (minimum $50.00 USD; $70.00 CAD if your account is in Canadian dollars).
Select View Estimated Performance to review projected results.
Select Awesome, sponsor my job to proceed, or choose Use a different budget to adjust.
Important: You can increase the job ad budget later but cannot extend the ad duration after the campaign starts.
Flexible Budget
Choose the approximate number of applicants from the Ad Applies dropdown (1–100).
Select the ad duration (7–30 days).
Select View Recommended Budget to review projected results.
Select Awesome, sponsor my job to proceed, or choose Use a different budget to adjust.
Confirm Campaign Request
Review the summary on the Confirm Campaign Request page for accuracy.
Select Confirm to submit your ad for sponsorship and agree to Indeed’s Terms of Service and Privacy and Cookie policies. Or select Go Back to edit.
After confirming:
A success message displays; select Close to return to Job Board Push.
Jobs sponsored from the ATS also appear as sponsored in your Indeed dashboard.
Re‑Sponsor A Job With Remaining Budget
If you re‑sponsor the same job, the new sponsorship amount adds to any remaining budget, and a message will display indicating the previous balance.
Example: A remaining budget of $100.00 exists from a prior campaign.
Enter your new sponsorship amount (for example, $200.00). The total budget becomes $300.00 ($100.00 remaining + $200.00 new).
The Indeed History will show the new remaining balance.
Note: While re‑sponsorship with remaining budget is supported, it is not recommended to re‑sponsor the same job ad. Consider creating a new listing and sponsoring that one instead.

Manage Your Sponsored Ad
Sponsored ads are managed as ad campaigns. You can increase the job ad budget later; you cannot increase the ad duration.
Sponsored Jobs that reach their daily spending limit revert to their prior visibility (e.g., Job alert or organic). Jobs with lower visibility due to quality, or paused campaigns, will not be visible until spending resumes.
See the “Manage a Sponsored Ad Campaign on Indeed” user guide for additional details.
Note: To manage a sponsored ad, your individual access must be verified by connecting to Indeed.
Permission Error
If you see an error when attempting to sponsor a job, your Indeed login may not have Admin access.
First, contact the person managing your company’s Indeed account to request Admin access, refresh the page, and try again.
If you still cannot sponsor, please contact our Support Team and provide your email address so they can assist with connecting the correct email between systems.
Posting Rules And Exceptions
Jobs with the type “Future/General Interest Opening” or “Unpaid Internship” are not sent to Indeed’s feed and cannot be sponsored.
Due to pay transparency policies, jobs with “Commission Only” pay type will not display pay on Indeed, even if pay fields are completed.
Confidential/blind career sites cannot post organically to Indeed; however, customers with a confidential site can sponsor confidential postings on Indeed.
Access And Credentials
Individual user connections are required; there is not a single Indeed connection for the entire company.
Indeed requires users to refresh permissions every 60 days. You will be prompted to reconnect when attempting to sponsor after 60 days.
Budgeting And Billing Notes
You only pay for clicks; no fixed-term contracts or long-term commitments.
If you reach the daily click limit, a message displays: “Your sponsored job has reached its budgeted daily limit.” Organic visibility continues; the click budget resets the next day.
If you have budgeting questions, contact your Account Executive for suggestions.
Indeed Support And Resources
All technical issues, account changes, and questions are handled directly by Indeed’s support team.
Indeed uses a client-based support model; for questions about visibility and indexing, contact Indeed directly.
Jobs sponsored from the ATS appear in your Indeed employer dashboard, where you can track performance and work with Indeed to optimize campaigns.
For dashboard help, see the Indeed Employer Dashboard tutorial.
For answers, search Indeed’s Knowledge Base. If you cannot find an answer, submit a question to Indeed directly.
If the number of applicants differs significantly from the estimator, talk to your Indeed rep for suggestions. Indeed provides all estimator data; the ATS does not control these estimates.
For a follow‑up from an Indeed sales rep, email Indeed’s Referral Partners.
For technical issues with the sponsorship feed, contact Indeed Technical Support. They may ask you to complete a form that routes to the team supporting the API Sponsorship feed.
Indeed Sponsorship Status Report
Admin users can run this standard report to see sponsored jobs and the number of clicks received via the new Indeed job feed.
Use the report to confirm pushes and identify any sponsorship discrepancies.
At least one Admin must have sponsorship access with Indeed to view this report.
See the “Indeed Sponsorship Status Report” and “Connect your Indeed account to the ATS” user guides for more information.
FAQs
What is an Indeed Sponsored Ad Campaign?
When you pay to sponsor your jobs, they receive prominent placement on Indeed to help you find hires faster.
What is the difference between Fixed Budget and Flexible Budget?
Fixed Budget: You set a fixed spend to acquire applicants for your job.
Flexible Budget: You set a target number of applicants; the budget adjusts to meet that goal.
How often can I sponsor my job ad?
You can sponsor as often as you wish after the current ad duration elapses. Legacy 30‑day limits that prevented ad stacking are no longer applicable with variable durations.
Will remaining budget roll over to the next campaign?
No. You only pay for used budget. Any remaining budget at campaign end is reset to zero and not billed.
Does Indeed guarantee the estimated number of applicants?
No. Estimates reflect historical performance and are not guarantees. Indeed provides estimator data; the ATS does not control these estimates.
What happens when my ad reaches its daily click allotment?
Sponsorship visibility pauses for the day and reverts to prior visibility (e.g., Job alert or organic). Visibility resumes when daily spend resets.
Why don’t I see a potential performance budget estimate for a job?
The Indeed‑generated budget appears only for jobs created after the April 1st, 2022 release. Older jobs may not display a suggested amount.
Can I change my campaign while it is active?
Yes. You can increase the job ad budget later. You cannot increase the ad duration.
Which job types are not posted to Indeed?
“Future/General Interest Opening” and “Unpaid Internship” are excluded from Indeed’s feed and cannot be sponsored.
How does pay transparency affect “Commission Only” jobs?
Indeed will not display pay for “Commission Only” jobs, even if pay fields are completed.
Can I sponsor a confidential/blind posting on Indeed?
Yes. While confidential postings are not listed organically, customers with a confidential site can sponsor confidential postings.
Why do I need to refresh my Indeed access credentials?
Indeed requires permission renewal every 60 days; you will be prompted to reconnect when sponsoring after 60 days.
Why do I need to wait 24 hours to sponsor a job?
Indeed must see the job organically before connecting a sponsorship; wait 24 hours after posting.
Why must each user connect their own Indeed account?
The ATS requires individual user connections. The Admin or Job Posting Manager must be granted permission by Indeed.
Why am I required to connect my account before I can sponsor?
The first time you sponsor, you must verify access by connecting Indeed with the ATS. This confirms your permissions with Indeed.
